Shall I recycle?

I've been stoked for weeks about the prospect of getting a new bike. It's not that I don't love the Motobecane fixed gear, its just that sometimes I'd like to switch gears, throw a little variety in the mix, etc. I have been working this summer for the goal of a new Surly Crosscheck, replete with rack and panniers for commuting. But recently the lure of money savings has reared its head. I ran across an ad for a used Jamis Nova on craigslist. The price is reasonable and the bike is pretty much what I'm looking for. I'm not particularly attached to the Surly brand, though I've read good things. I've read good things about Jamis too. So I'm going to check out the bike today and if it is pretty nice and fits I will probably buy it. I guess this is a kind of recycling. I save money and don't add to waste, of course Surly doesn't make a buck off me, but, oh well, maybe next time. I do still plan to put their 1x1 fork on my Trek for the xtracycle build.
Anyway, maybe I'll be commuting on a Jamis tomorrow. I've never owned one, we'll see how it works out. With the 4th of July weekend coming up, friends coming to town and a trip to San Diego on the horizon, frugality may be warranted.
I wonder if this is restraint, responsibility, or my own miserliness. Who knows, time will tell I suppose.
